Narcos” on Netflix has been renewed for season 3 and 4 but some important characters will no longer be back in the new installments. Wagner Moura, who played the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar in the first and second season, shared what he knows about what’s coming next even though he’s no longer part of the show.

As history showed, and as viewers saw on “Narcos,” Pablo Escobar was shot in the head by authorities.

But in the Netflix supplemental documentary “Life After Pablo,” Wagner Moura said that the anti-hero’s death did not change anything.

“After Pablo, you had Cali, after Cali, Mexico, after Mexico, you know...this is not going to end with this policy of War on Drugs," Wagner Moura said. He believes that killing those in the drug trade is not the best solution to combat drug addiction.

Cali Cartel central to 'Narcos' season 3

Like every fan of the show, Wagner Moura expressed that he's eager to watch the upcoming season: "Escobar is just the beginning of it, so, I'm really curious to know what happens next."

Narcos” producers confirmed that season 3 will revolve around the Cali Cartel, which will reveal how deep the corruption goes and how influential drug lords are in Colombia.

“Cali was protected by a political and economic system that they had rather ingeniously built. It’s a different kind of villain,” show-runner Eric Newman said to the press when Netflix confirmed that “Narcos” would be back for more. “While Escobar was a single-cell organism, they were a complex, multi-celled organism,” he added.

The cast of 'Narcos' season 3

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) tagged the Cali Cartel as "the most powerful crime syndicate in history." Viewers may recall the heads of the cartel leaving their footprints in season 2.

Pablo Escobar was shown to have misgivings regarding brothers Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela (Damián Alcázar), Miguel Rodríguez Orejuela (Francisco Denis) and Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann).

Together, they teamed up with Judy Moncada (Cristina Umaña) and the Castanos brothers, Carlos (Mauricio Mejía) and Miguel (Gustavo Angarita Jr.), to bring down Escobar with the CIA's assistance.

Viewers can expect these characters to heavily factor into “Narcos” season 3, but, there’s also another Cali Cartel member who will still be introduced -- José Santacruz Londoño, or Chepe.

Also joining the new season are Kerry Bishe, Michael Stahl-David, and Matt Whela. Pedro Pascal will reprise his role as Javier Pena but it's unclear if he'll appear in all of the episodes.
