Kris Jenner is not the only member of the Kardashian family to be criticized this week for a photo released online. Her daughter Kim Kardashian, married to Kanye West, has recently been the victim of online criticism from the public. Kim is the mother of two children, North and Saint West. Kim's criticisms come from her Facebook fans as they insist that she is endangering her child.
The picture in question
Kim Kardashian posted a picture of her youngest child and son Saint West online. The photograph shows the 18-month-old sitting in a car seat. Saint West is staring at the camera wearing a black and white top with vans on the toddler's feet.
The cause of the controversy is that this car seat is facing forwards instead of backward. According to pediatric emergency physician Dennis Durbin, a rear facing car seat does a much better job at protecting children.
He stated that it does a much better job at supporting the child's neck, back, and spine in the event of a crash. The law, many fans pointed out, was created to protect children and is upheld in California and other states. However, there is no evidence showing that Kim and her son were in California or any of the adjoining states. Until further evidence is proved, there is no reason to assume the Kardashian was breaking the law.
A fierce media debate has broken out
Concerned mothers have been criticizing the famous Kardashian for endangering her child.
California Law states that, if children are less than two-years-old, they must be placed facing the rear of the vehicle. With Saint West only being 18-months-old, Kim has been receiving a strong amount of online abuse and concern. However, California law also states that if children are taller than 40 inches or weigh more than 40 pounds, exceptions can be made.
According to the Dailymail, a source close to the Kardashian has stated that Saint meets these requirements. However, without confirmation from the Kardashian family themselves, there is no way to prove this. The online attack on Kim has also prompted her fans to defend her. Some statements include calling the concerned citizens "car-seat police" while others are exasperated at the public picking on the Kardashian's through social media.
There has been no comment made by Kim Kardashian or her representatives. The photo emerged online on Sunday and the star could be waiting for the media attention to die down before responding to fans concerns.
