George RR Martin has been working on “The Winds Of Winter” for quite some time now. Recent reports are now saying that the 68-year-old New Mexican author is likely to release the much-awaited sixth book in his Song of Ice and Fire series next year.
GRRM publishing ‘The Winds of Winter’ in 2018?
Not so long ago, Variety has confirmed that George RR Martin is currently working on the scripts of the upcoming five “Game of Thrones” spinoffs. Using his personal Live Journal blog, the veteran author stated that he had started working with other four writers last month.
Martin said that the first four scripts for the “GoT” spinoff series had been in development when he arrived in Los Angeles. The “A Song of Ice and Fire” series writer added that they hired another writer to help them finish the fifth story.
Aside from that, George RR Martin has reportedly launched the StageCoach Foundation in the early days of May. The novelist claimed that the newly-established organization aims to help young filmmakers to develop and improve their talents in filming and production.
Because of these reports, fans have started speculating that “The Winds Of Winter” might not hit the shelves this year. In fact, there have been claims saying that Martin had to stop working for the sixth “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel to focus on the “Game of Thrones” spinoffs and the StageCoach Foundation.
George RR Martin previously aimed to publish “The Winds of Winter” this year but fans are now starting to believe that it will be released in 2018 instead. The “Fevre Dream” author has yet to comment on these claims.

Meanwhile, GRRM has finally explained why he often posts updates about the much-awaited “The Winds of Winter” book.
The New Mexican writer said he only gives details whenever there are progress or developments that fans ought to know.
“I do post about Ice & Fire and GAME OF THRONES whenever there is actual news to report. Do you really want or need weekly WoW posts all saying, “Still working on it, not done yet?” Martin wrote on his blog.
The author also said that he is not fond of posting minor updates of the novels that he is writing.
George RR Martin has also stated that he plans to finish the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. He added that he hopes to live for another thirty years to write more books. Stay tuned for more “The Winds of Winter” news and updates!
