‘Kubo and the Two Strings’
Released in 2016, “Kubo and the Two Strings” was an action-adventure film directed by Travis Knight and scripted by Marc Haimes and Chris Butler. The film featured the voices of Art Parkinson, Charlize Theron, Ralph Fiennes, Matthew McConaughey, Gorge Takai, and Rooney Mara. “Kubo and the Two Strings” was an interesting story about Kubo, who wielded a mysterious shamisen and his left eye was stolen.
The film was screened for a prize at Melbourne International Film Festival, and it grossed over $74 million worldwide against a production budget of $60 million. “Kubo and the Two Strings” was nominated for two Academy Awards and won the BAFTA for Best Animated Film.
‘The Patriot’
Released in 2000, “The Patriot” was an epic movie directed and co-produced by Roland Emmerich, scripted by Robert Rodat. The film featured Mel Gibson, Jason Isaacs, Heath Ledger, and Chris Cooper, and it mainly took place in rural York County, South Carolina. “The Patriot” depicted the story of a businessman who swept into the American Revolutionary War when his wife was threatened. The film received favorable comments from critics, and its Rotten Tomatoes rating was 61%.
‘Babe’ – a film
“Babe” was a 1995 Australian-American movie produced by Goerge Miller and directed by Chris Noonan. It was an adaptation of a 1983 novel of the same name by Dick King-Smith. “Babe” was a story of a pig who wanted to be a sheepdog. James Cromwell, Magda Szubanski, Brittany Byrnes, Wade Hayward, Paul Goddard, and Zoe Burton played the leading characters.
“Babe” was a box office success and grossed over $200 million in the United States and Australia. It was nominated for six Academy Awards and won two Golden Globe Awards.
‘Independence Day’ – 1996 movie
“Independence Day” was a heartwarming story of a satellite technician, David Levinson, who was tasked to fight a group of aliens.
This science fiction movie was co-written and directed by Roland Emmerich. As of June 2017, “Independence Day” ranks 55th on the list of highest-grossing films of all time. It won two Academy Awards and had an approval rating of 62% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film featured Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Mary McDonnell, Judd Hirsch, and Robert Loggia.
