Eminem has been 'mum' about the release date of his new album. Fans are now wondering if the "Stan" rapper's anniversary album of 'The Eminem Show' was inspired by the "The Truman Show." He even thanked Jim Carrey for inspiring him in completing the album.
According to a recent report from New York Daily News, Eminem credited the veteran comedian, Jim Carrey for inspiring him to work on his "The Eminem Show" years ago.
The "Stan" rapper revealed that he was inspired by Carrey's "The Truman Show" movie because, at that time, he felt like he was always being watched.
Eminem thankful to Jim Carrey and his movie
The "Cleaning Out My Closet" rapper unveiled in his Instagram post, that his life almost turned into a circus. Eminem also thinks that Jim Carrey should be credited for the success of his "The Eminem Show" album.
Carrey's "The Truman Show" was released in 1998. The movie tackled the life of Truman Burbank played by Carrey. Burbank's actions were being watched by the public and little did he know that his life was just a part of a show.
Carrey is yet to respond to Em's kind words towards him and his movie.
Em's anniversary collection to be released soon
It has been confirmed that Em will be releasing "The Eminem Show" anniversary collection. Em also stated in his post that it can be accessed by clicking the link in the bio of his IG post. However, the release date of the full album to the market is still unknown.
The rapper from Detroit won two Grammy awards back in 2002. He received the "Best Rap Album" for his "The Slim Shady LP" in 2000 and "The Marshall Mathers LP" in 2001. He also received more success from his movie, "8 Mile," which could be the reason why Em felt like his life was the focus of the entertainment industry.
Em has also another feat to celebrate as "Stan" makes its way to the Oxford English Dictionary. The word, 'stan' has been finally explained by the dictionary. The dictionary defines the word as “an overzealous and obsessive fan of a particular celebrity.”
In the hit song of Em, "Stan" is about a person who claims to be the biggest fan of Em. He wrote several letters to Em, but he still did not get noticed by the legendary rapper due to his busy schedule. Stan felt sad that he did not hear from Em, which is why he committed suicide at the end of the song.
"The Eminem Show" features songs like "Sing for the Moment," "Cleaning Out My Closet" "Hailie's Song." Eminem is yet to announce the release date of the new album.
