Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy played the respective roles of Imperator Furiosa and Max Rockatansky in 2015 movie "Mad Max: Fury Road." But despite working together for the project, the two remained distant while filming and even after the production was completed. This has caused fans to speculate whether something went wrong between them or if they had a dispute on the set.

"We struggled so much with each other"

In an exclusive interview with E, the "Monster" actress did not confirm nor deny reports that she is having a dispute with her co-star.

Theron, however, admitted that both of them "struggled" to build a close working relationship while filming "Mad Max: Fury Road."

"From what I hear, he's not like that on every movie—I hear he's had good experiences," she said while laughing. "Maybe the movie is what it is because we struggled so much with each other."

Theron added the movie would have come out worse if they were friendly around each other on the set. Hardy, on the other hand, has nothing but kind words about his co-star whom he described as "awesome" and "incredible" and even lauded Theron for her talent in acting.

The "Lawless" star admitted he is disappointed over these reports claiming that he is having a dispute with his "Mad Max: Fury Road" co-star.

A Daily Mail report claimed that Hardy has dedicated himself so much on his character that he would rather be left alone to practice his dialogues than mingle with his co-actors.

So, what seems to be the problem?

Theron and Hardy's distant relationship was personally witnessed by their co-actor, Zoe Kravitz, who revealed that the two "did not get along" on the set.

Although she is uncertain of the real reason for this, the "Divergent" actress thinks their six-month stay in the dessert to film "Mad Max: Fury Road" could be a factor why some of them were having issues with each other.

"I just think they weren't vibing," Kravitz told EW. “At some point, everyone has like some kind of issue with somebody ’cause it’s just the way people are.”

The 28-year-old also said some of them were getting tired and homesick which, at some point, has affected their working relationship with their co-actors and staff members.

The filming for "Mad Max: Fury Road" kicked off in 2013. The George Miller creation was finally released in May 2015 and saw an average box office hit with over $300 million gross sales.

The 2015 action movie has won six of its ten Academy Award nods including Costume Design, Production Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing.
