Strap in, “Timeless” fans! The lifeboat is back in action.
In a highly unprecedented and unheard of announcement, NBC pulled back the cancellation of the Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke sci-fi endeavor, gifting fans another 10 episodes of time-hopping shenanigans.
"Timeless" revived!
Lucy (Abigail Spencer), Wyatt (Matt Lanter), and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) received the news on Wednesday, just a day before networks staged a cancellation massacre of epic proportions. Unlike the 12 series' that received a termination notice as the week came to a close, “Timeless” managed to rally viewers to its cause.
Even as Sony began a laborious search for a new outlet, the peacock network was paying attention to calls to #ResuscitateTimeless.
By Saturday morning, NBC put a grievous wrong to rights.
“The #TimeTeam went back 3 days and changed history. @nbc picked us up for 10 episodes,” Kripke tweeted. “Seriously. Airs next summer. #TimelessRenewed.”

We’ll blame Rittenhouse for the brief turmoil. Clearly “Timeless” was interfering with their master plans. Considering Kripke is the mastermind behind America’s longest running sci-fi series (Supernatural), the turn of events was almost to be expected.
At the moment, exact airdates are still fuzzy.
“Being told by @NBC timeslot undecided,” Ryan wrote. “Will be spring or summer of 2018 though. #TimelessResuscitated.”
Cast celebrates "Timeless" renewal
The time travel jokes are flying fast and furiously, and the Lanter couldn’t help but join in on the fun. In his latest Facebook video, an exhausted Wyatt stumbles onto the screen, touting the success of the lLifeboat’s latest journey.
“We just got back. I just wanted to hop on and tell you we think the mission was successful,” Lanter recounts for the camera before breaking into a grin. “We went back and I’m pretty sure we changed NBC’s minds. So, yeah. We got more episodes coming. See you real soon.”
Considering “Timeless” left us with a giant cliffhanger, we couldn’t be more excited for Season 2.
Rittenhouse is alive and well thanks to Lucy’s mom, and that means the Time Team’s work is far from over. Looking forward, viewers should expect to see a little more Rufus and Jiya (Claudia Doumit), possibly some Lucy and Wyatt, and a closer look at Connor Mason, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, we’re still wondering what Emma (Annie Wersching) is up to now that she has secured the Mothership for Rittenhouse.
