Barry Allen can rewrite the past and sprint through the future, but “The Flash”’s eponymous speedster has yet to solve season 3’s greatest conundrum – can you change the future? For Iris West, the answer needs to be yes.

Grant Gustin’s meta will do anything to save the woman he loves, up to and including teaming with one of the series’ original rogues. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) is back in Central City, and we couldn’t be more excited.

‘The Flash’ gets Cold

Leonard Snart entered the Arrowverse as a meticulous criminal. Ruthless in his attention to loyalty but not nearly as hard-hearted as he likes to pretend, Captain Cold took his rightful place as a hero during the adventures of Rip Hunter’s (Arthur Darvill) “Legends.” One death scene and a little Legion of Doom jiggery-pokery later, the parka aficionado is back in play.

What once would have been a bane for the CCPD is now a boon for the STAR Labs crew. If Tracy Brand (Anne Dudek) alone can’t put Savitar in his box, perhaps a little cold gun action will do the trick. Look for Snart to play a crucial role in this year’s penultimate episode, “Infantino Street."

With just 24 hours left on the clock, the May 22 episode will show us just how far Barry is willing to go for the ones he loves. His future self listed off his own attempts to delay Iris’ (Candice Patton) untimely demise, but, as far as we know, even a small army of time remnants won’t be able to bring the God of Speed to his knees.

On a lighter note, the episode title appears to be a nod to famed comic book artist Carmine Infantino, the very man who pulled the Flash from the panels of the Golden Age and dropped him onto Silver Age splash pages.

What’s next on ‘The Flash’?

The search is on for one Tracy Brand. A scientist due to create Savitar’s speed force prison in the year 2020, the DC newbie will find herself on the fast track during next week’s “I Know Who You Are.”

Could Barry’s tip from the future play out? If it does, it will have to transpire against the backdrop of a Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) v.

Vibe (Carlos Valdes) showdown. Here’s hoping Cisco can keep his BFF from joining forces with Savitar while still keeping his powers – and hands – intact.

The action won’t end with episode 20, however. HR (Tom Cavanagh) will resume his role as STAR Labs’ resident cheerleader as Tracy struggles to decipher her own work during “Cause and Effect.” Even as she does, evil Elsa will chill the cortex once more.
