"The Blacklist" is one of NBC's highest-rated shows but the series is bound to end this month after descriptions of the show's two-hour season 4 finale were revealed. Some are asking if this is already the end of the series or if fans can still expect for Season 5.

Apart from the finale, fans of "The Blacklist" season 4 are also looking forward to what will happen in the upcoming episode 19. Teasers indicate that Red (James Spader) will be reaching out to Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert) and the secret of Red might finally be revealed.

Is the series ending?

There are speculations that Season 4 is the finale of the series or the show might be canceled. But none of this is confirmed by series creator Jon Bokenkamp. Instead, Bokenkamp revealed that the remaining episodes of season 4 are massive in scope wherein the characters will be facing danger. He said that Agent Ressler's life would be at risk while helping a former colleague in an investigation. With this, many fans are worried that the agent might face his demise in the season finale.

Further spoilers about the finale reveal that the backstory of Mr. Kaplan will be unveiled as well as her connection to Red and Liz (Megan Boone). Mr. Kaplan will also be enlisting the help of a high-end thief (Aldis Hodge) for a mysterious assignment, and Red will be after this person.

Whatever is that assignment, we will find out in the first part of the finale titled "Mr. Kaplan" which will air on May 18 at 9:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Meanwhile, the second part will feature Liz who will confront answers to her questions about her past. In the same episode, Mr. Kaplan will launch the final phase of her assault.

This will air on the second part of the season finale titled "Mr. Kaplan: Conclusion" on May 18 at 10:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.

Show's ratings

As of now, there isn't any news about "The Blacklist" season 5 yet which frustrates fans. Many are still hoping that the show will not yet end, but this depends on what the finale will feature.

If all questions are answered during the two-hour finale, then there is a possibility that there will no longer be season 5. But if it is based on the show's rating, there is a huge chance for renewal.

"The Blacklist" season 4 has a huge following and has good ratings ever since it aired. A recent report reveals that the show is delivering a strong upscale audience for adults 18-49 years old. It's recently concluded episode got 4.8 million viewers overall for the timeslot of 10:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. It defeated other shows of the same time slot like the coverage of "The NFL Draft" on ESPN.
