rachel lindsay has had some interesting suitors this season on “The Bachelorette,” but only one of them brought a Plus One with him. On the recent season 13 premiere of “The Bachelorette,” series star Rachel Lindsay was creeped out to find that contestant Adam Gottschalk brought a ventriloquist doll named Adam Junior (AJ for short) with him to the Bachelorette Mansion. The doll appears to be about three feet tall with drawn-on facial features, a mop of brown wig hair and a blue suit.

AJ the Doll popped up throughout the season premiere of the ABC reality show, episode and was shown in a variety of poses during Rachel’s first pre-rose-ceremony cocktail hour. Although the doll definitely got Adam noticed, AJ received more air time than his owner did. And longtime fans of “The Bachelor” franchise know that contestants that show up on the first night of filming with a gimmick aren’t always there for the right reasons. At the very least, they are usually labelled for their entire stint on the show. Just ask Jonathan, another one of Rachel’s suitors, whose occupation is listed as Tickle Monster even though he’s a doctor.

While Rachel liked Adam enough to keep him around after the first round of eliminations, the gorgeous Dallas attorney told him in no uncertain terms that his doll had to go.

AJ keeps reappearing

Turns out, Adam—or his doll—has a mind of his own. The creepy stuffed doll, who apparently speaks French, made a cameo on the second episode of “The Bachelorette.” In photos that ABC posted from Rachel’s Week 2 group date with several of her suitors, AJ is spotted wearing a baseball cap as he is raised atop the other guys during a basketball game.

In addition, AJ, who has his own Twitter following, posted a photo of himself to his social media account which shows him trying to blend in with the crowd at the basketball courts.

The photo is captioned with the taunting message: “When bae says to stay away but you’re good at disguises.”

What’s the deal with AJ’s “dad?”

According to Arizona’s ABC 15 News, Adam Gottschalk is a 27-year-old former Arizona Wildcats football player who now works as a real estate agent. On her People magazine blog, Rachel Lindsay wrote about a lot of her suitors but did not give AJ the doll a shout-out. But then again, “The Bachelorette” beauty may just want to forget about the creepy stuffed moppet. Besides, shouldn’t she be the only living doll on the show?

“The Bachelorette” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
