Usually, in K-dramas, the main cast often sets a viewership percentage promise for viewers prior to the series airing. What this means is that when a K-drama they star in reaches a certain viewership percentage, they will do something for the viewers. Most of the time, the promise is giving viewers hugs or coffee. But other times, the viewers get something spectacular. For example, Park Shin Hye promised to sing and dance Twice's hit song "Cheer Up" if Doctors (also known as Doctor Crush) earned over 15 percent in viewership.
With that in mind, Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won provided a viewership promise that is sure to troll shippers. They said if their K-drama Fight My Way achieves over 30 percent in viewership, they will get married.
When did the two Hallyu stars make their outrageous viewership ratings promise?
Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won's viewership percentage promise was made known during a Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) press conference for Fight My Way at Times Square in Yeongdeungpo. As a promotion for viewers to tune into the K-drama, Kim Sung Oh proposed the two leads marry if the drama surpasses over 30% in viewership.
Coincidentally, if the ratings remained under 30%, second lead actors Ahn Jae Hong and Song Ha Yoon will be the ones to get married.
It should be known the viewership rating promises were jokes. However, there are numerous K-drama fans who already ship Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Woon (or Ahn Jae Hong and Song Ha Yoon) who hope said promises are actually real.
What is Fight My Way and where can it be watched?
Fight My Way (also known as Fight For My Way and Third-Rate My Way) is the latest romcom K-drama to air on KBS which stars the aforementioned four Hallyu stars. Go Dong Nam (Seo Joon), a former taekwondo player who used to be famous but is now a nameless mixed martial artist, and Choi Ae Ra (Ji Won), a department store employee who works at the information desk but dreams of becoming a news anchor, are two friends who suddenly have a blossoming romance.
The unique catch is that they both have third-rate specs and are immature for their age. Their childish dynamic hasn't changed despite reaching adulthood.
For those interested in watching the upcoming romcom K-drama, Fight My Way airs on KBS on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. KST starting on May 22, 2017. For those who do not have access to Korean channels, it is available on both Viki and OnDemandKorea.
