Although it is believed that “Once Upon a Time” Season 7 will indeed happen, it looks like one significant cast member is not bound to return. Jennifer Morrison already confirmed that she will not be reprising her role as Emma if ever the show gets renewed, and will be leaving after the season six finalé.
However, if the fairy tale television series comes back, the 38-year-old actress is set to appear in one episode, but will never be a series regular again. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the former “House” star talked about the reason why she decided to exit the drama series.
Morrison’s reason for exiting the show
In the interview with EW, Morrison was asked what made her decide to not reprise her role in “Once Upon a Time” Season 7. The “Star Trek” actress said that she had a hard time making up her mind, as she cares about the show and everyone behind it. Although she loves being there, she already spent six years of her life on the show and she feels like she has to move on.
At this moment of her life, she now wants to work near her home, sleep in her own bed, spend time with her family and friends, and have a life outside of work again. Now that her contract with “OUAT” is ending, she personally and professionally thinks that it is the best time to move on.
Regarding her appearance in an episode of “Once Upon a Time” Season 7, Morrison was asked if it is possible that she will return for more than one episode.
“I don’t know. I can’t really speak to that,” she said. She also added that she is not bound to say anything, but revealed that she negotiated for one episode only.
Moreover, even though she is leaving the show, Morrison feels great that Emma has finally found her happy ending. Even from the start, she revealed that she has loved Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz’s writing, thus, she is grateful for the role her character was given.
Her final goodbye
Meanwhile, Morrison admitted that her final goodbye is bittersweet for both parties. After six years, it will be very hard for her, as the cast has become more like family over the years.
