Mariah Carey has a cameo appearance in the new movie "The House." She plays herself and sings a song in only one scene. Her co-stars are complaining about her attitude on the set of Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler’s movie. They say her attitude was the most outrageous they have ever seen, according to the Daily News.
Actor Rob Huebel revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly just how demanding Carey was. She made so many unreasonable demands and caused so many people to get upset with her that it is uncertain if she will be in the movie after all.
The movie is set to be released on June 29. Because of her behavior, Huebel implied that her scene might have been cut out of the movie.
Mariah's demands
The 47-year-old singer was four hours late. When she showed up, she demanded that her trailer be filled with roses, and all of them had to be white. A production assistant scrambled to honor her request. Then another request was made that was stranger than the first one. She wanted stuffed animals in her trailer and not just any stuffed animal. Since her followers are called lambs, she requested lots of stuffed white lambs. She requested all of that for the one day she was scheduled to be on the set.
The script called for Carey to sing a song relating to the movie.
She wanted to sing what she wanted to sing, and it was not what producers wanted. She didn't like it that her character in the movie was to be killed with a round of bullets. She suggested that the script be changed because she didn't want to die from bullets. The production staff wouldn't accommodate her with that request.
She was told that she was getting paid to do what she was being paid to do, and the team didn't have time to argue with her.
History of demands
Mariah Carey has a reputation for being late for her own performances and on other occasions. Showing up late for her cameo in the movie was nothing new. Making demands on the set was nothing new either.
She is known for being one of the most demanding celebrities ever.
It was reported that in 2005 when she checked into London's Baglioni Hotel at 2 a.m., she demanded that the hotel roll out a red carpet lined with white candles for her entrance into the hotel at that time of morning. She was driven around in her limo until her demands were met. The hotel manager did honor her request because she had rented 15 rooms that cost $20,000 a night.
In 2009, Mariah requested 20 white kittens and 100 white doves to be released while she turned on Christmas lights at Westfield London Shopping Centre. Her requests were denied, but there have been many other demands that have been honored over the years.
