Star of "Grey's Anatomy," Jesse Williams, and actress Minka Kelly are officially dating, according to reports. The two have allegedly kept their relationship a secret due to Williams' recent divorce.
Williams was married to his ex-wife, Aryn Drake-Lee, for five years until he filed for divorce in April. They have two children together.
'Amicable' divorce
When the star of "Grey's Anatomy" filed for divorce from his long-time partner, with whom he has two children, many were shocked. They began dating 13 years ago, while Williams was still only a struggling actor, and Aryn supported him wholeheartedly.
During happier times, Jesse had told the USA Today: "She’s been with me through all different facets of my career. She’s stuck with me through thick and thick and thin. We know each other in and out." Jesse has asked for joint physical and legal custody of their son and daughter but does not want to pay spousal support.
Friends close to Aryn told Page Six that the divorce is not as amicable as it is portrayed in the media and that in fact, Williams left her. "She poured money into this relationship and sacrificed her life for him, and now he wants to go out and be the hot single Hollywood guy. Jesse wants to . . . do whatever he thinks will make him a bigger star," sources said. Also, sources claim that criticism over Aryn's looks put a strain on the relationship.
"When you hear people saying, ‘Why aren’t you with someone hotter or with this actress?’ I’m sure that placed a strain on their relationship," a source told Page Six.
Relationship with Kelly
A source close to the actor confirmed to Page Six that Williams and Kelly are "definitely seeing each other." According to sources, the pair started seeing each other last year, but that the actor ended his marriage only this year.
"People know about the relationship, but weren’t saying anything because he was still married,” the source added. In January, Minka posted a photo of herself with Williams in France. However, they have not publicly commented on the relationship.
Kelly and Williams appeared together in the movie "Lee Daniels' The Butler" in 2013, but sources insist that they actually met only last year while they were working on a video game in France. "They were both in the film, but never shot at the same time. They might have been at the same premiere event, but they never crossed paths," the source claimed.
