Dwayne Johnson was originally a professional wrestler in World Wrestling Entertainment, back in the days when the wrestling federation was still known as World Wrestling Federation, but he has carved out quite a name for himself since leaving his wrestling career.

Johnson has appeared in a slew of films over the years, with his role in “The Fast and The Furious” franchise garnering him the most recognition of his roles, and he is slated to play a huge character in the continually expanding DC cinematic universe.

For years now, Johnson has been rumored to play the titular villain in the long-developed Shazam movie, and he finally revealed some details about what to expect from his portrayal of Black Adam.

Moreover, it was announced that “Shazam” was being split into two films, with the villain Black Adam receiving his own film after prosperous negotiations with the studio.

More teasing about Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson confirmed that his debut as Black Adam will indeed happen and he teased that Black Adam's debut will be quite a surprise for fans. He also asserted that he was pushing for Armie Hammer, known for his roles in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E” and “The Lone Ranger,” to play the adult version of Billy Batson in the new “Shazam” movie.

Johnson went on to tease that his Black Adam and Henry Cavill's Superman will face off at some point in the films, but he refused to go too much into detail about the fight. Confirmation of the fight reveals that Superman will indeed return to the films, after a tease of the man of steel's revival at the end of the events in “Batman V.S. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

Every little boy's dream

Shazam” revolves around a young boy named Billy Batson, who can transform himself into a costumed adult with super speed, flight, superhuman strength, and other powers by saying Shazam. Shazam is an acronym of the six Greek elders: Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury.

Captain Marvel, or more commonly known as Shazam, was the most popular comic book in the 1940s that outsold Batman and even Superman comic books.

Captain Marvel was also the first superhero adaptation in the film with a 1941 short serial titled “Adventures of Captain Marvel.” Black Adam is the main villain of the “Shazam” series, and he is an ancient Egyptian precursor to Captain Marvel.

When can fans see the film?

Not a lot is known about the “Shazam” film at this time, aside from what Dwayne Johnson has revealed about the film, but fans can hopefully expect to see the film release with a premiere date of April 5th, 2019.

The film has been delayed several times, but is currently in the process of finishing the script, and the film is slated debut after a slew of Justice League films.

It is unclear when fans could expect to even see the “Black Adam” film with “Shazam” still in development, but Dwayne Johnson remains confident that his character will go on to be an antihero that antagonizes the likes of Superman and even Batman.
