Have you ever watched the Marvel movie Deadpool and thought it might be fun to see an adult cartoon starring the famous merc with a mouth? Well, fans are getting their wishes granted. FXX, the same network with the hilarious adult cartoon “Archer,” has officially ordered a first season of an untitled Deadpool adult action-comedy animated series, which is slated for a premiere in 2018.

The first season will be comprised of ten episodes, similar to the structure of other FXX shows such as ratings hit “Archer,” and it will be executive produced by Donald Glover and Stephen Glover from the television show “Atlanta.” The Glover brothers will also both serve as show-runners and writers on the new show.

Producing new Marvel content.

At this time there has been no casting announcements or plot details revealed, but the show will be centered around Marvel's Deadpool character. This announcement marks the third show to come to fruition in the partnership between Marvel and the FX network of channels, following the hit television show “Legion” from Noah Hawley and the new X-men connected television show from Matt Nix “The Gifted.” Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb from Marvel will also serve as executive producers on the show and the show will be produced by Marvel Television, ABC Signature Studios, and FX Productions. Nick Grad, co-president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, announced that Donald Glover and Stephen Glover were chosen for the show because of the ratings hit that “Atlanta” became.

Moreover, Grad also stated that the FX family were happy to be bringing to life another original and bold show with their partnership with Marvel.

Donald Glover has a history with Marvel.

Donald Glover's show “Atlanta” is slated for a second season to premiere in 2018, but he already has a lot of experience with Marvel television and film.

Glover voiced Miles Morales in the “Ultimate Spider-Man” animated series and he is slated to appear in the brand new “Spider-Man: Homecoming” movie in some capacity. In addition to his Marvel film and television credits, Glover is also set to portray Lando Calrissian in the new “Han Solo” prequel film, which will be released in theaters everywhere May, 25 2018, and he garnered a lot of fame for his portrayal of Troy Barnes on “Community.” Glover also has a music career in the rap industry as Childish Gambino, so he will certainly be one of the busiest young creative minds in Hollywood for the next few years to come.

Deadpool is still getting a sequel

Deadpool was given a live-action film that released in 2016 on Valentine's Day, which starred Ryan Reynolds as the merc with a mouth, and the film quickly became the highest grossing R-rated film to ever be made. Deadpool is still slated to return in live-action form with the sequel “Deadpool 2,” which will see Reynolds return in the title role. “Deadpool 2” will also star Zazie Beets as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, and bring back a slew of side characters from the first film. “Deadpool 2” is slated for a premiere in 2018 as well, so it seems it will be a big year for the legendary merc with a mouth.
