20Th Century Fox has scheduled “Deadpool 2” for June 1, 2018.
Currently, filming is being done in Vancouver, Los Angeles, New York City, London, and Arizona. The wait for “Deadpool 2” is almost over as the studio has not only given it a date but also revealed cast details.
According to a 20th Century Fox spokesperson, the film features Ryan Reynolds as Wilson, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Ed Skrein as Freeman, and T. J. Miller as Weasel.
The supporting characters are played by Gina Carano, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic, Karan Soni, and Jed Rees.
There’s no information about the nature of roles of Gina, Leslie, Brianna, Stefan, Jed, and Karan, but the studio claims that all these celebrities will make cameo appearances, alongside “Deadpool” creator Rob Liefeld, and “X-Men” director Green Lantern.
A little about the original film
Released in 2016, “Deadpool” is an American superhero movie by Rhett Reese and Tim Miller and scripted by Paul Wernick, based on the MCU (Marvel Comics Universe) character of the same name.
Box office projections
“Deadpool” grossed over $362 million in Canada and the United States, and over $410 million in other territories, against a production budget of $56 million.
“Deadpool 2” is being developed with a budget of $120 million, so it is easy to assume that the film will gross over $50 million in the opening weekends.
The original movie earned more than $800 million at the global box office, becoming the third highest-grossing film of 2016, following “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Passion of the Christ,” which grossed $740 million and $750 million, respectively.
The first film had one of the biggest openings for the studio in 20 markets, including the United States, Brazil, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, and India. The upcoming movie, “Deadpool 2,” will open in more than 65 territories, so it is expected to gross up to $900 million at the domestic and international box office.
