Sunday night's Daytime Emmys 2017 take place from California with the stars of daytime television programs including soap operas and talk show hosts receiving their recognition. Among the major stars that will be at the event are "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek, former "Saved By the Bell" actor Mario Lopez, and singing sensation Gladys Knight. Some of the Actors And Actresses vying for awards tonight will include the stars from popular soaps including "General Hospital," "The Young and the Restless," and "Days of Our Lives." Here's some more information about who will be at the show, as well as how to watch it live.

Hosts & awards for tonight

The daytime version of the Emmy Awards started up back in 1972. It's now almost 50 years later and there are still soap operas going strong. Despite cancelations or moves for popular shows such as "All My Children" or "As the World Turns," there are still some soaps on television that are loved by fans today.

Tonight's show, presented by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, will be the 44th installment of the awards event. It will be hosted by Mario Lopez and Sheryl Underwood, both of whom are stars of different television programs in their own regard. Lopez has been involved in various projects after "Saved By the Bell" and is now a host on "Extra," while Underwood appears on CBS' show "The Talk."

There are a number of presenters who will be on hand for tonight's show including Larry King, Jane Pauley, Harry Connick Jr., Blair Underwood, Tim Allen, Dr.

Oz, Trisha Yearwood, Kelly Monaco, Vanna White, and the legendary Susan Lucci.

There are also a lot of categories with awards to be handed out. They include recognizing actors and actresses for individual soap operas, morning programs, entertainment news shows, talk show hosts and game show hosts. Popular soaps "Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful" from CBS will be nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, and in competition with ABC's "General Hospital" and NBC's "Days of Our Lives." Actors and actresses from these shows will also be in the running for individual awards, as will the writing teams behind them.
