He is the counterpart of the Dark Wizard fans came across in the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” named Gellert Grindelwald, which was revealed to be portrayed by Johnny Depp.

The professor was mentioned in the first installment when he argued about the expulsion of one of the students. Later, it was revealed that Newt Scamander was the expelled student due to an incident with a magical creature.

In addition, in his foreword to the most recent edition of the Hogwarts Library book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” Scamander revealed his reverence to the professor. He said that for him, Albus Dumbledore is more than a schoolteacher. He, however, hesitated to disclose more so as not to break his mentor’s trust as well as the Official Magical Secrets Act.
