Jennifer Hudson was a guest on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday, April 26. After singing, she sat down to chat with Ellen. During the conversation, Hudson mentioned her 7-year-old son and her engagement to David Otunga.

No rush to get married

When Ellen asked Jennifer about getting married, the singer said she is in no rush to get married because she is happy with the way things are. The Grammy winner said her fiancé David Otunga isn't going anywhere. The 35-year-old singer and actress has been Engaged to the 37-year-old lawyer, actor, and retired professional wrestler for nine years.

Just seven months after meeting her, Otunga proposed to Hudson on her 27th birthday on September 12, 2008. Their son, David Daniel, Jr. was born in August 2009. If and when they tie the knot, it will be the first marriage for both of them.

The "American Idol" alum said she is not in a hurry to get married even though she is in love. After attending Russell Wilson and Ciara's wedding in England in July 2016, it seemed like Jennifer was thinking about her own wedding. She told Essence magazine just a month later that the wedding she attended inspired her because it was so beautiful. She began to think about all her friends being married. However, that hasn't caused her to make the decision to get married.

Engaged celebrities with children

A lot of celebrities don't follow the tradition of dating, getting engaged, getting married and having children. They are satisfied with not making marriage a priority. Sometimes the couple never gets married. Goldie Hawn, 71, and Kurt Russell are perfect examples of this. They have been in a relationship since 1983 and never married after 34 years.

Together they have one child, actor Wyatt Russell. Goldie has two children from her second marriage to Bill Hudson. They are actor Oliver Hudson and actress Kate Hudson.

Just last week, the 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams announced that she is expecting a baby later this year. The tennis champion and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian have been engaged since December 10, 2016.

However, no wedding plans have been revealed.

"Dancing with the Stars" professional dancers, Peta Murgatroyd, 30, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, 37, became engaged on December 5, 2015. They welcomed baby Shia Aleksander on January 4, 2017. They are planning to get married during the summer when their son is old enough to be part of their wedding.

Tika Sumpter, 36, who plays Candace Young on "The Haves and the Have Nots" is engaged to co-star Nicholas James who plays Officer Justin. They welcomed a baby girl named Ella-Loren on October 8, 2016. The co-stars became engaged in January 2017, but there have been no plans for the couple to get married.
