Will there be a new episode of “Arrow” season 5 on the CW tonight? Many fans want to know what is in store for Oliver Queen and his group now that the bad guys have been revealed. There are still plenty of questions surrounding the identity of some people. Here’s a look at all you need to know for “Arrow” this week on the CW.
No new episode of ‘Arrow’ season 5
Unfortunately for fans, there will be no new episode of “Arrow” season 5 on April 19, 2017. At 8p.m. fans will be treated to a repeat of a previous season 5 episode, “Checkmate.” It has certainly been a long month since “Arrow” stopped showing new episodes on a Wednesday night.
The last new episode was “Disbanded” on March 29.
The break is a tactical measure and not bad news for the future of the show. In fact, “Arrow” season 6 has already been confirmed, along with new seasons of spinoffs “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Supergirl.” The decision to take the show off for a week is to make sure more episodes air within the Neilsen TV ratings sweep, which is when networks get a better look of the number of people watching their programs.
For some networks, the ratings are used to determine the future of shows. In the CW’s case, the sweep is a chance to determine the scheduling for next season. The CW will need to decide whether to put “Arrow” on at the same time and on the same night for the 2017-2018 season.
When sweeps have been used in the past, some shows have moved to the Friday night death slot or have been cancelled.
Adrian Chase is on the run
Adrian Chase is the bad guy to catch, and at the moment all those that matter are looking for him. Team Arrow will need to work with SCPD and ARGUS to find him. When it turns out that they might not be able to, Felicity turns to the “hacktivists” Helix to help out.
The problem is Helix will only help for a price. Felicity will need to decide whether she wants to get involved in illegal activities just to find where Adrian Chase is. It is possible that she will gain support from the likes of ARGUS to do that if she needed it, but we don’t know what that thing is yet. Fans still need to find out the identity of another masked man running around the city.
“Arrow” season 5 will return with episode 19, “Dangerous Liaisons” on April 26, 2017. It will then air for four weeks after that, with the season 5 finale airing on May 24, 2017. This will likely be the same week that “The Flash” and “Supergirl” will air their season finales on the CW network.
