Cersei Lannister is seen in one of the “Game of Thrones” season 7 photos released by HBO sitting on the Iron Throne with a crown on her head. Jamie, her twin/lover, is dressed as a knight and standing at her side.
In Season 6, Cersei (Lena Headey) blew up King’s Landing killing the religious leader, the High Sparrow, and her former daughter-in-law, Queen Margaery, along with other adversaries. Cersei has also been punished for her sins of incest in the past. In the upcoming episodes of “Game of Thrones,” there will still be a lot of revenge and redemption going on, basing on the photos released by the network.
Three characters are expected to claim the Iron Throne
Cersei’s rivals are back in the popular TV show as well. Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is seen in his usual fur and leather ensemble, while Daenerys Targaryen looks indestructible in her cape and dress that sounds like a dragon’s scale.
Jon, after being resurrected from the dead, is crowned the head of his homeland Winterfell. He has not seen his half-sister since season 1, and fans are wondering if there will be a reunion this time around. Meanwhile, Daenerys who sailed across the world with the Dothraki, her husband’s clan, is ready to fight for the Iron Throne herself.
Cersei might have one staunch supporter who will be back in “Game of Thrones” season 7.
Sandor “The Hound” Clegane, is reported to be back to seek vengeance to the one who massacred the peaceful community which he found solace in the previous season. Judging by his looks in the photo, his mood does not seem to improve at all.
Other casts unveiled from photos released
Characters seen in the photos released by HBO include Littlefinger with Sansa Stark in Winterfell, Davos Seaworth, Arya Stark, Brienne of Tarth, Meera Reed and Bran Stark.
While Sansa looks solemn and in deep thoughts, fans are happy to see some of their favorite characters coming back for season 7. However, they might be disappointed to know that Bran is still being dragged by Meera somewhere in the snowy part of the world. Will Bran overcome his paralysis in the next season?
“Game of Thrones” season 7 will air on July 16 with seven episodes.
Its finale will come in season 8 with six episodes in 2018. The fantasy series which is based on George R.R. Martin’s novel is one of the most expensive shows being made with a reported budget of $10 million per episode. Judging from the viewers of season 6 finale which is close to 9 million, every dollar spent is certainly worth it.
