Star Wars: The Last Jedi” Is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2017. The mega-budget movie is directed and written by Rian Johnson.

According to Box Office Mojo, “Star Wars” franchise has made over $450 billion at the domestic box office and more than $700 billion internationally. "Episode VII" alone grossed over $100 million in the opening weekend.

In an interview with Screen Rant, director and producer Rian Johnson said that a brand new galaxy has been created for the new project. This movie will have better action sequences and visual effects.

Also speaking at Star Wars Celebration he said he is slightly disappointed as Han Solo and Luke have not reunited in the new trilogy.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is an epic space film. The project is co-produced by Lucasfilm. Upon its release this winter, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will distribute the movie worldwide. Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Daisy Ridley play the leading characters. Andy Serkis and Gwendoline Christie are returning from the previous film, and Laura Dern, Kelly Marie and Benicio del Toro are the new cast members.

The movie was first announced in December 2013. Disney chairman Bob Iger says that John Williams has composed the movie scores.

Most of its scenes have been shot in Ireland, England, and New York City. “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is scheduled to be released on November 15 and sequel is expected to release in 2019. At this stage, it's not possible to put aside the whys and whats of the movie.

A possible sequel

According to What Culture, “Episode IX” is directed and co-produced by Colin Trevorrow, with a story treatment by Mark Johnson.

In February 2017, Disney chairman Bob Iger confirmed that “Episode IX” is in the final works. John Schwartzman is returning as Chris from the second installment. The original trilogy's cast joins newcomers John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley. Water Culture reports that the filmmaker wanted Carrie Fisher to play the lead role.

There are rumors that Emma Watson will now play the leading role, but the actress has refused to comment anything. Lucasfilm has plans to digitally generate Fisher's performance for the movie. Her father and mother have granted the rights to use her private pictures. They have charged over $20 million in this regard. As announced by Lucasfilm, the new trilogy will end most of the existing "Star Wars" series.
