After only one day of rehearsing for "Dancing with the Stars" with partner Sasha Farber, Simone Biles already has blisters on both heels. Hopefully, they will get better by the time Season 24 premieres on March 20. Simone is finding out quickly that dancing in the ballroom is nothing like gymnastics. The four-time Olympic gold medalist will be 20 years old on March 14, which is six days before she makes her television debut on the popular dance competition show.
Advice from Laurie Hernandez
Fans and viewers are anxious to see if Simone will do as well as Season 23 champion Laurie Hernandez, who won with Valentin Chmerkovskiy.
Laurie and Simone were part of the Final Five at the Rio Olympic Games, where both of them brought home gold medals. Laurie wants Simone to follow in her footsteps on "Dancing With The Stars." In fact, she appeared on "Good Morning America" last week to wish her friends good luck and to give Simone her lucky silver sequin tennis shoes along with some helpful advice about taking care of her feet. Then she told her friend to have fun and let her personality shine.
Beside 'Dancing with the Stars'
Simone was busy before joining "Dancing with the Stars." She had sponsor-related appearances during the Super Bowl. She accepted an award in Monte Carlo and was a guest at several awards shows. She appeared with Olympic teammate Aly Raisman in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
Last Friday morning, Simone appeared at a Kellogg-sponsored event for children where they learned about nutrition.
Other gymnasts
Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles follows several other gymnasts who have competed. In fact, some of her teammates have competed on the reality show. Of course, viewers remember the reigning champion, Laurie Hernandez.
Aly Raisman competed in 2013 after her first Olympic competition. Nastia Liukin was partnered with Derek Hough in 2008. Shawn Johnson won with Mark Ballas in 2012.
Watch Simone along with the other competitors on "Dancing with the Stars" when Season 24 premieres on March 20 on ABC.
