An all new "The Bachelorette" is months away from airing, but the show has already taken on many firsts. "The Bachelorette" for upcoming season 13 is rachel lindsay, who is the first African-American woman taking on the starring role of the show. That's a big deal for such a long running and successful reality show.

Meeting the men

Another first in "The Bachelorette" history happened a couple of weeks ago on "After the Final Rose." During the show, Rachel met four of the men who will be competing for her love on season 13 of "The Bachelorette." This is the first time in the show's history that the star met any of the contestants before filming began.

Then last week, Rachel made an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," but she did not arrive alone. Rachel brought with her six of the men from the upcoming season of "The Bachelorette." Ellen had the men take off their shirts and dance around while getting tips from some of the audience members. Rachel told Ellen that she already kissed two of the men and is looking forward to getting to know them all.

More about Rachel

Rachel Lindsay is a 31-year-old attorney from Dallas, TX. She made it all the way to the final three in season 21 of "The Bachelor." Rachel received the first impression rose and came so very close to winning bachelor Nick Viall's heart, but in the end, he chose someone else.

All is forgiven on Rachel's end though, ever since she was selected to be the next Bachelorette. Soon she will find out if it's easier to hand out the roses or to accept them. There will be a total of 25 men competing for the final rose from Rachel this coming May.

Filming of "The Bachelorette" just began last week. Rachel and her suitors will be going on one-on-one dates and group dates, and host Chris Harrison will be there, yet again, to catch all of the action. There will likely be some drama in the mansion among all the men who are there to fall in love.

The premiere episode of season 13 of "The Bachelorette" will air on Monday, May 22 on ABC.
