Jake Gyllenhaal is one of those Hollywood actors who rarely appears in a bad movie. In fact it appears that he always chooses his roles carefully, playing characters who really mean something. Now Gyllenhaal is set to team up with Daniel Espinosa again, who directed the film “Life” for the new project, “The Anarchists vs. ISIS.” The Hollywood Reporter says Jake, together with Riva Marker, will be working with Daniel through their Ninestories production company.

‘The Anarchists vs ISIS’ based on a real life story

Reportedly the movie is based around an article by writer Seth Harp, published in Rolling Stone, which told the story about a group of U.S.

volunteers and outcasts, fighting alongside Kurdish militia to beat the ISIS terror group in Syria while seeking to set up an collective of anarchists in that country amid the ruins. As reported by Spin, the article was centered amount Brace Belden, 27, an American who joined the Kurdish militia (YPG) to fight ISIS in Syria last year along with a mixed bag of other volunteers of various different nationalities.

While fighting in Syria Belden tweeted regularly of his experiences under the handle @PissPigGrandad. Belden is described as having had no previous military experience. The story describes him as previously arranging flowers for a living in San Francisco. Previous to that, he was reportedly a “lowlife punk and petty criminal” who had a heroin habit, which he kicked while reading Lenin and Marx in rehab.

No set date for production to start

Marker said in a statement that their production company is always attracted to material like Seth’s story – a search for identity in a world where it is all too easy to feel less connected. The Rolling Stone article tells the story of people who abandon everything familiar to connect with each other in brutal circumstances.

According to Spin, there is no set start date for production of the movie.
