This week, video clips resurfaced of milo yiannopoulos justifying pedophilia in a conversation with Joe Rogan. As a result, CPAC has decided to cancel their Book Deal with him.
The professional agitator
The 33-year-old Conservative journalist is most well known for his controversial opinions and outlandish statements. In 2016, Milo was permanently banned from Twitter for his involvement in the continued harassment of Leslie Jones. Earlier this year, it was announced that Milo had signed a $250,000 book deal for his future novel, "Dangerous." The news was met with immediate backlash, with many people accusing CPAC of cosigning racism, sexism, homophobia, and white nationalism.
Milo reacts
Since the resurfacing of these clips, Milo has released several statements on his Facebook fan page. In his first release, Milo refused to issue an apology. Later on, however, Milo appeared more remorseful about his words.
"I'm partly to blame. My own experiences as a victim led me to believe I could say anything I wanted to on this subject, no matter how outrageous. But I understand that my usual blend of British sarcasm, provocation and gallows humor might have come across as flippancy, a lack of care for other victims or, worse, "advocacy." I deeply regret that. People deal with things from their past in different ways."
Milo is an admitted victim of sexual assault. According to the Breitbart editor, he was raped by an older man during his early teens.
Milo stated in his conversation with Joe that he does not consider his rapist a criminal and he does not regret the experience.
"It wasn't molestation. It was perfectly consensual. When I was 14, trust me, I was the predator. I was the predator."
Will Milo bounce back?
Currently, Milo's book has been pulled from Amazon and is no longer available for preorder.
Whether or not Milo has received any of the money from his original deal with CPAC is currently unknown. However, it is very likely that Milo could still release his book with another publisher. Only time will tell.
