Dakota Johnson filmed some very racy scenes for "Fifty Shades of Grey" and "Fifty Shades Darker," and understandably, her parents were exactly thrilled with the role. Although Melanie Griffith and don johnson have proven themselves to be quite supportive of their daughter in the years since the "Fifty Shades" trilogy began production, Johnson admitted during a recent interview that Johnson was especially protective when it came to her decision to take on the sexually-charged role.
"I think, my dad was pretty protective. But when it came to me doing this job, they kind of didn't have a choice," Johnson explained during an interview with the New Zealand Herald on February 9.
"I was pretty adamant," she added. According to Johnson, she feels her parents would love to be able to enjoy watching the film that has made her a household name, but because the films are "pretty inappropriate," they have been unable to do so.
Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson aren't judgmental about the roles she takes on
While having their daughter star in a provocative film may not have been their first choice, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson don't judge the actress on the projects she takes on. Instead, as Johnson revealed to the New Zealand Herald, they "judge me on what kind of human I am to other humans."
Dakota Johnson continues to be linked to co-star Jamie Dornan
For viewers of the "Fifty Shades" films who are unaware of what is going on in the off-screen lives of Johnson and Dornan, it may be easy to think that there could be something between them aside from the film.
Their on-screen chemistry is off-the-charts. However, there has never been anything romantic between them. When filming began, Johnson was involved in a relationship with Matthew Hitt. Meanwhile, Dornan has been happily married to wife Amelia Warner since April 2013, and the couple shares two children.
