The battle of the bands is on! This one is going to be a tough one for rock fans to swallow because it is so insane. Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer has thrown some serious shade in the direction of the Rolling Stones. During a recent interview with Classic Rock, Kramer stated that his band Aerosmith is the better iconic band. Aerosmith is "better than the Rolling Stones," Kramer claimed, adding that they play "so much better than them it's silly."
Rocker's dig is not going to go well with fans
Kramer claimed that when it comes to playing a live show hands down the Stones do not even compare to Aerosmith.
He also stated that Jagger and the Stones never had anything to offer him musically, or with drumming.
"Everybody is always raving about the Stones, saying the Stones this and the Stones that. I've never cared for the Stones. Yeah, they are what they are and all of that, but I don't think that there is a band out there that does what we do."
Rock history proves that Aerosmith has more than earned respect in the music world, however, so have the Stones.
Each band has a different style and caters musically to all types of fans. When asked his thoughts on today's rock bands and if he thought they would ever compare when it comes to filling stadiums and headlining festivals his answer doesn't seem as much of a surprise given the tone of his latest interview.
"When the bands that are around now are finished I think it will be the end of a very long era. I'm talking about bands like us, AC/DC and Van Halen." Kramer's opinions of their rock competitors does not appear to be the majority within the band. Bassist Tom Hamilton responded to Joey's remarks via Twitter,
"Oops! I love Joey but I also think the Stones are one of the bands that define ROCK!
Been a fan since I was twelve!"
Who wins the battle of the bands?
For fans hoping to see either Aerosmith or the Rolling Stones, the time to do so is now. Aerosmith will soon be kicking off their European leg of of what was revealed to be their farewell tour, and the Stones are not far behind. After more than five decades on the road, these bands are more than deserving of retirement.
