Love them or hate them, the Obama's were sweethearts of the nation’s late night television shows -- and as Mr. Obama is all set to step down from the White House, Michelle Obama will be appearing on the "Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," her last television appearance as the First Lady of the United States of America.
Barack Obama farewell speech as US President
Perhaps the most popular First Lady in history, Michelle is scheduled to appear Wednesday, January 11, 2017 (a day after President Barack Obama delivers his farewell address to the nation), and vacate the White House with his wife and daughters; Malia and Sasha on January 20, 2017.
The very active Flotus had two previous appearances on the show; both times giving a huge spike in Fallon’s ratings. Her ‘Evolution of Mom Dancing’ piece with Jimmy Fallon was a beloved television moment of last year.
Michelle Obama poor viewership on Oprah interview
The last interview of the First Lady from inside the White House was with Oprah Winfrey a few days ago. CBS broadcasted the show worldwide, but received only 10 million viewers, which is highly unusual for the popular First Lady. Her last public appearance as the First Lady will be on Jan. 6, at the annual ceremony honoring counselor of the year. This is one among many traditions started by her during her time at the White House, the ceremony celebrates the effort of our counselors that play a vital role in the nations’ education system.
Trump and Obama to cross path at White House
Meanwhile, the White House is abuzz, preparing for the transition between President Barack Obama and President-elect Donald J.Trump. It is an event that only happens once every 4-8 years for the past few decades, but it seems, however, that this current transition will be an extremely elaborate and quick process.
Regardless of what one may think of both the President (Barack Obama), and the First Lady (Michelle Obama), they have served the country for the last 8 years, and it will likely be a bittersweet affair once the Obamas ultimately move out.
