In just two days, Donald Trump will officially become the new president on Inauguration Day. After posting a picture of himself writing his speech for Inauguration Day, Twitter and other social media users were quick to give their thoughts.
Trump trolled on Twitter
Taking the majority of the country by surprise, Donald Trump was able to pull off the upset and defeat Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton to become the 45th President of the United States.
Since that time, a cloud of controversy has continued to hover over the billionaire real estate mogul, even with just 48 hours remaining before he heads into the White House. On Friday, Trump will be sworn in on his own personal Bible, as well as Abraham Lincoln's Bible, before giving a speech to those in attendance. Trump has been writing the speech himself, before having a picture taken and sent out on Twitter Wednesday afternoon. As seen on January 18, celebrity Twitter users didn't hold back their thoughts on the picture in question.
"Writing my inaugural address at the Winter White House, Mar-a-Lago, three weeks ago," Donald Trump wrote on Twitter, while adding, "Looking forward to Friday." The tweet also came with a picture of the president-elect, looking as if he was caught off guard as it was taken.
"Looks like a Madame Tussaud's exhibit," author Andy Glockner tweeted. Actress Kristina Wong sent out several tweets in response to the picture, with one stating, "Four Score and Seven Years ago, all the haters, losers and enemies (sadly of which there are many), were born fu**ed up!"
Filmmaker Michael Moore sent out a warning about Trump's inauguration, tweeting, "Less than 48 hours now. Let's not be afraid to say out loud, as bad as we think it's going to be, it will actually be much worse than that." Former MSNBC and ESPN host Keith Olbermann also gave his thoughts, using a photo-shopped image in the process.
Backlash continues
Actor and director Rob Reiner took a more serious approach to Donald Trump entering the White House, as he also responded on Twitter.
"We're about to inaugurate a POTUS who almost certainly has committed treason," Reiner tweeted, before adding, "For the preservation of our democracy" and using the hashtag "#SpecialProsecutor."
Writer Matt Haif also chimed in, writing, "That's not how people write, Donald. You need to put the paper flat on the desk, and open the notepad." As of press time, the onslaught of mockery and criticism has continued.
Reality check
Despite the growing opposition, and multiple planned protests, Donald Trump will head into the White House, but will do so with a historically low favorability rating of just 40 percent. With the controversy that surrounds him, the future president is expected to have a difficult time bringing the country together.
