Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. has decided to divorce his wife of 22 years. Sara Kapfer filed for legal separation on March 13, 2014. She cited irreconcilable differences. It has taken this long for Gooding to respond. He filed for a divorce on January 19, according to TMZ. Gooding's divorce papers indicate that the 49-year-old actor is asking for legal and physical custody of the couple's 10-year-old daughter, Piper.
Gooding-Kapfer marriage
Cuba and Sara were high school sweethearts that he often boasted about. They dated for seven year before they got married in March 1994.
The couple has three children together. They are Spencer, Mason, and Piper. Piper is the only minor child. That's why Cuba and Sara are asking for legal custody of her.
In an interview on "The View," Gooding gushed about his wife and how they fell in love long ago when they were in high school. The "American Crime Story" actor hinted at a reconciliation on the "Steve Harvey Show" last March. Fans have been waiting to see what would happen.
