"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 premieres on The CW network in a few weeks. What can fans expect from the characters? Actors Michael Malarkey and Ian Somerhalder discussed Damon and Enzo's predicament. Find out what was revealed and what is coming next for the two vampires, who have been affected by the creature inside the vault.

Enzo's love for Bonnie has him fighting.

In an interview with "TV Guide," Michael Malarkey spoke about his character on "The Vampire Diaries." The actor revealed that Enzo will be fighting the creature's control on him with every fiber of his being. It is his love for Bonnie Bennett that makes him continue resisting. However, at the same time, Enzo will be having fun while Damon kills people.

Damon will be a 'catatonic evildoer' in season 8.

Unlike Enzo, Ian Somerhalder's character won't be fighting as much. Damon Salvatore will be almost a "catatonic evildoer" in season 8. Previous spoilers for "TVD" from executive producer Julie Plec stated that Damon has a reason he is doing the monster's evil bidding. What that reason is was not explained. Perhaps losing Elena Gilbert is just too much for Damon to handle. This would make Nina Dobrev's return to "The Vampire Diaries" even more important than ever.

What is the monster affecting Damon and Enzo?

This is one of the biggest questions going into season 8 of "TVD." What is the creature that is taking the two vampires on a murderous rollercoaster ride? Somerhalder and Malarkey simply said that there would be some clues in the season premiere episode. What fans do know is that the monster is thousands of years old and has some sort of psychic abilities. There are major hints that it could be Sybil, according to the character description.
