Most of the spoiler reports for season 8 of The Vampire Diaries are focused on Damon and Enzo. However, there are other characters that are just as important and interesting. Recently, actor Matt Davis shared some information about Alaric. It turns out he is going to have some new responsibilities that are very important.
Alaric and the Armory
It turns out that the father of the Gemini twins is going to be director of the Armory. In fact, Matt Davis told TooFab at Comic-Con 2016 in San Diego that Alaric has taken over the Armory. As TVD fans know, the Armory specializes in the supernatural.
Inside the headquarters is the Vault. Unfortunately, what was inside lured Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) in deeper and took over his body. Later, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) would be affected by the same creature.
There may be romance for the character in 'The Vampire Diaries'
It is common for people to have a few different relationships, but Alaric has really bad luck. Jo was pregnant with twins and she was killed as they were getting married. The Gemini twins were magically transferred to Caroline's (Candice King) womb and she was probably the first pregnant vampire ever. The babies were magical, which created its own set of problems. Alaric and Caroline bonded over the children and ended up having a relationship of their own.
However, he knew that Caroline's heart yearned for Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley.) He gave his blessing for her to be with him. In Season 8, don't expect the character to be moping about his lost relationship. There is a hot nanny that may be Alaric's new love interest.

Last season, Alaric promised Caroline that they would always be family and he meant it.
When TVD returns, the former couple won't have any issues that usually result from a separation.
Who will save Damon and Enzo?
In a video interview, Candice King was asked about her opinion on what would happen in Season 8. The actress said that she wonders how involved Alaric will be in saving the missing vampires. With his new responsibilities at the Armory, he might be in the perfect position to know exactly what to do.
