Catelynn Lowell is facingbacklash online after being seen driving while "medicating" on Teen Mom OG. Following Monday night's new episode, the reality star was seen driving her car as she lit up her marijuana cigarette and began to cough and ever since, fans have been flooding Lowell -- and MTV -- with their concerns.
On September 7, the International Business Times shared a report regarding the backlash, revealing that Lowell has shared a couple of messages with her fans in response to the controversial scene. "Who are you to judge the lifeI live?
I know I’m not perfect and I don’t live to be, but before you start pointing fingers make sure your hands are clean," read a message to her Instagram account.
Catelynn Lowell apologizes to fans for driving high
On Twitter, Catelynn Lowell and her husband, Tyler Baltierra, shared other messages about her behavior. Although Lowell didn't specifically address her use of marijuana on the social media platform, she did apologize for "medicating" herself while driving and said that she preferred to avoid Xanax, which is commonlyused to help alleviate anxiety, and rely on the organic route of treatment.
“Yes, I was 100-percent wrong for medicating while driving," Lowell told fans. "That was before I got my card and I know better now." Meanwhile, Baltierra explained to his followers that marijuanais "definitely legal in[Michigan]" and assured his fans that he does not break the law.
Catelynn Lowell went to rehab during 'Teen Mom OG' season six
After giving birth to her second daughter (her first, Carly, was given up for adoption in 2009), Nova Lee, in 2015, Catelynn Lowell checked into treatment for anxiety and depression and remained in rehab for 30 days. Throughout her time away from Baltierra and her family, Baltierra offered Lowell his full support and continues to do so as the 6th season of the series plays out.
