The Voice 2015 continued Nov. 16 on NBC as the top 12 aspiring vocalists took to the stage to sing again for America's votes. Before the show even had the chance to begin on the west coast, heir apparent to the show throne Jordan Smith had already cruised all the way to number two --and locked up his second iTunes vote multiplier of the fledgling season-- with his cover of the gospel standard Great is Thy Faithfulness. Only the recent Adele mega hit Hello ranked higher as of press time. Here's a look at where all of the contestants' covers ranked on the top 200 chart at the start of the 8 PM Pacific broadcast.
The Voice top 12 early iTunes returns
- 2. Jordan Smith, Great is Thy Faithfulness
- 18. Amy Vachal, Hotline Bling
- 26. Barrett Baber, Right Here Waiting
- 28. Jeffery Austin, Let it Go
- 44. Emily Ann Roberts, Blame it on Your Heart
- 57. Zach Seabaugh, My Love
- 70. Shelby Brown, In Color
- 73. Madi Davis, Who Will Save Your Soul
- 122. Mark Hood, Against All Odds
- 123. Korin Bukowski, Titanium
- 126. Evan McKeel, This is It
- 161. Braiden Sunshine, Renegade
With a top 20 placement already under her belt, Team Adam Levine's Vachal stands an excellent chance of entering the top 10 prior to the 9 AM Pacific close of the voting window and earning her first iTunes bonus. Multipliers are also not out of the realm of possibility for both Baber and Austin, but the rest of the field is unlikely to advance enough in the rankings to secure them.
To date, just two performers --Team Adam's Smith and Team Blake Shelton's Roberts-- have snagged the coveted bonuses, which have historically played a significant role in determining who stays and who goes home. However, the playoff results, which saw Roberts need Shelton's lone coach's save to stay alive in the competition despite earning an iTunes multiplier for In the Garden, suggest that the power of the download voter may be less pronounced during season nine.
