Halloween is just around the corner and as a gamer, there are several Horror Video Games to play. Several games were released this year and some of them were pure horror, while the others combined psychological terror, horror, and supernatural elements in the game.

Here's a list of my top picks:

4. ‘Outlast Trinity’

What better way to spend Halloween than to combine all game titles of the “Outlast” game franchise? “Outlast Trinity” is the combination of “Outlast,” “Outlast: Whistleblower,” and “Outlast 2.” The first game and its expansion had some of the best scares in it, especially if you are playing in the dark and alone.

Outlast 2” was some sort of an improvement of the prequel with better graphic details, but it had some weak parts. Combining all three titles would be the best scary mix for a great scare. This trilogy set is available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and you can also buy all three titles on Steam for PC.

3. ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’

Another way to enjoy your horrific night on Halloween is to play with your friends. You might even want to kill them in this awesome game called “Friday the 13th: The Game.” You can play as the murderous Jason Voorhees or become one of the counselors that become a victim of his killing spree.

It would be fun to run around and try to kill the other players in the famous Crystal Lake with different ways of gruesome murder.

Players can hack, slash, slam, crush, and more when they kill the counselors. If you are one of the unlucky counselors, it is your job to hide and escape the camp before it is too late.

2. ‘Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’

One of the best horror video games to play this year is “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” due to its intense gameplay, jump scares twisted story and more.

With the combination of a virtual reality headset, the gameplay experience becomes so terrifying that players would be too scared to move an inch. They were constantly hounded by the monsters in the game, and it almost seemed impossible to hide from them.

This game was a completely different game to play compared to the other game titles in the popular franchise.

Players did not feel that they had a good chance of surviving due to the intense scares. This also had some DLCs that enhance the gameplay.

1. ‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’

If you want psychological horror and thrilling gameplay with scary sound surround effects, then play “Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.” Turn up the sound with your 7.1 surround sound speakers or headset because you are in for a wild ride with this game.

Adding the intense Souls-like gameplay is its complete manipulation of surround sound. Players will have a hard time concentrating on their battles because “voices in their heads” can be heard in all corners of the battlefield. The main heroine, Senua, is kind of psychotic and she hears voices that taunt, scare, curse, insult, and sometimes help her.

Here's the trailer for my top 1 best horror video game to play this Halloween 2017: "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice."
