Trevor Siemian has all the answers to the questions you should ask when the Broncos are playing the Chargers tonight. We know that Philip Rivers is a guy who can sling the ball around, but we do not know what Trevor Siemian can really do. He may have won the starting job in Denver, but that does not mean that he is a good player. We only know how good he is relative to the rest of the people on the Broncos roster. Perhaps it is time for Trevor to give us something fantastic.

Waiting for development

Developing players in the NFL is hard because they often get caught behind the eight ball as they are trying to grow.

Many players take a few years to get better, and they need to find a way to improve quickly before they are replaced. The NFL works much like the military. You are either moving up or you are moving out. Guys who cannot keep their jobs will not stay in the NFL, and John Elway cannot stay with Siemian forever. Siemian is not a top draft pick, and he is not beloved across the league. He is a hard working kid who has won the job, but he could be supplanted at any time unless he gives the Broncos a reason to keep him. He has to do something special, and we need to see a signature Trevor Siemian moment.

More offense

The Broncos are in a very tough division that will cause them trouble all year. As it stands right now, they are in third place above the lowly Chargers.

If the Broncos lose to the Chargers, we might have to consider the Chargers improved and the Broncos floundering. Denver is very close to having a great season if they can get production from Siemian that mirrors their defense. We spent a lot of time talking about how the defense in Denver gave Peyton Manning a Super Bowl, but Manning was one of the best to ever play the game.

Siemian is just a guy who happens to be number one on the depth chart. These two men are in completely different places, and Siemian has to prove that he deserves the support of that defense.

Too much depth

The Broncos might get excited by a young quarterback somewhere in college football, and it would take nothing at all for them to draft him at any point in the upcoming draft.

They could take someone to compete with Siemian, or they could tell him that he cannot keep the job because 2017 was not good enough. Anything could change at any time, and that is why it is important to see Siemian perform right now before the team has to move on to someone else. Denver only has so many years with this great defense.
