As he has in the past, Donald Trump had a busy morning on social media. In one of his posts, the president presented a clear choice between the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, but his message didn't go over well in the process.

Trump on Twitter

In recent months, one of the biggest political stories has been the new tax reform bill passed by Republicans and signed into law by Donald Trump.

Since the start of his campaign for president, Trump vowed to change the tax code and enact massive changes, which he was able to follow through on despite controversy. Since then, the former host of "The Apprentice" has made sure to bring up one of his few legislative accomplishments on a routine basis, often ripping into Democrats due to their opposition. Trump has used Democratic criticism as a talking point heading into the midterm elections, telling voters that their taxes will go up if the makeup of Congress shifts away from Republicans.

In a tweet on Friday morning, Donald Trump put forward a choice between Democrats and Republicans on the issue of taxes, while making sure to call out Democratic House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi.

"Nancy Pelosi is going absolutely crazy about the big Tax Cuts given to the American People by the Republicans...got not one Democrat Vote! Here’s a choice," Trump tweeted. "They (Democrats) want to end them and raise your taxes substantially," he said, before adding, "Republicans are working on making them permanent and more cuts!" Not long after Trump sent out his tweet, the critics followed in behind him.

Twitter reacts

With Donald Trump trying to draw a clear line between Democrats and Republicans on the issue of taxes, those who oppose the president made sure to speak up. "Right, Trump has GONE crazy!" Bishop Talbert Swan tweeted, while adding, "Bat Crazy!"

"This is a baseless lie.

The only 'anti-American party' is the one who allows Russia to meddle and hack our infrastructure with *zero* consequences," a Twitter user wrote. "Trump every American agrees with me that you don't deserve to be a citizen of the United States. This tweet is getting likes which proves my point," yet another tweet added.

"Let me try your approach....Sleazy Con Don is a FRAUD.

He CAN'T even be LOYAL to his wife. How can you expect loyalty to the American people???? Someone died in his OWN flawed building. He CAN'T keep Americans safe. Sad! How'd I do?" a social media user posted with sarcasm. "The big Tax Cuts were given to you and the very wealthy and we will all have to live with the size of the debt. The question is how will you make more cuts? Taking away programs for the most vulnerable," a follow-up tweet read.
