The internet exploded on Saturday afternoon when a video went viral of Melania Trump all smiles while sitting next to Barack Obama at the funeral for Barbara Bush. While Melania didn't address the viral image, she did comment about honoring the former first lady which quickly gained a reaction on social media.

Melania on Barbara Bush

It was just last week when former First Lady Barbara Bush passed away at the age of 92 after suffering from congestive heart failure and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Following her death, praise from Democrats, Republicans, and millions of Americans followed in a rare show of political unity. Within minutes of the news going public, Donald Trump released a statement, but was quickly mocked for having to wrong date on the offical presidential response. The blunder became ironic considering the president's feud with the Bush family with included Barbara's public opposition. With the president not even receiving an invite to the funeral, current First Lady Melania Trump went in his place.

In a tweet on April 22, Melania Trump spoke about her experience at the Barbara Bush funeral.

"It was my honor to travel to Houston to give my respects to Barbara Bush and the remarkable life she led as a mother, wife, and fearless First Lady," Melania tweeted. "My sincerest thoughts and prayers continue to be with George H.W., and the entire Bush family," she added.

Melania and Obama

Once Melania Trump arrived at the funeral, she sat next to former President Barack Obama, with former First Lady Michelle Obama by his side, and Bill and Hillary Clinton both filling out the rest of the row.

Once a video was shown of Melania smiling while speaking to Obama, the mockery became a headline, as the image was used against Donald Trump due his disdain for the Obamas and Clintons.

Twitter mockery

Following her tweet, Melania Trump came under fire for ignoring the elephant in the room. "You were looking over at Obama like a high school girl with a crush, it was actually nice to see you happy, hope it happens again one day!" one tweet read.

"At least you had the class and respect to attend, unlike your husband who couldn't be bothered to get off the golf course.

SAD!" a Twitter user wrote. "What a wonderful treat it must have been to sit next to a man who does not spend all of his time thinking about vengeance. We saw your real smile today!" another tweet added. "Hopefully you will stand up to your husband and do what’s right for the country. It is time," an additional tweet stated.

"It's a shame yr husband shows such disregard. Take what little he has & run," a social media user tweeted. "Thanks for leaving your gasbag husband at the golf course," a follow-up tweeted read.
