Just a day after burying his wife, former First Lady Barbara Bush, former President George H.W. Bush was rushed to the hospital after an infection spread to his blood. While Donald Trump remains silent on the issue, First Lady Melania Trump offered her thoughts on Twitter.

Melania on Bush

It was just last week when the news broke that Barbara Bush was refusing additional treatment after suffering from congestive heart failure and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Within days, the former first lady passed away peacefully at her home in Texas, with her husband George H.W. Bush by her side. After her funeral took place over the weekend, reports came in on Monday that the former president was rushed to the hospital after an infection spread to his blood. Currently Bush is in critical condition, but is responding to treatment and has been awake and able to speak.

While Donald Trump has not offered a comment on the former president's condition, Melania Trump took to Twitter on April 23 and decided to send her well wishes.

"Sending healing thoughts of strength, along with prayers, for President George H.W. Bush tonight," Melania tweeted out. Over the weekend, Melania attended the funeral of Barbara Bush where she was seen smiling while sitting next to former President Barack Obama, as well as Michelle Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton. In response to Melania's recent tweet, those who oppose the current administration decided to hit back.

Twitter on Melania

Not long after Melania Trump tweeted out her thoughts on George H.W. Bush, social media went viral in reaction. "I can’t imagine what it feels like for George H.W. Bush to be a widow but Melania, I dream of the day you will be a widow all too often," comedian Kristina Wong tweeted.

"Melania, guess you wouldn't understand what it feels to lose your best friend, the love of your life for so many years.

The poor man feels he has nothing to live for. And how about sending him a personal hand-written note instead of a tweet? But doing that requires class," a Twitter user wrote. "What a shltty rude First Lady to not invite Democrats to the first State Dinner. You have no manners. A complete pig like your pig husband," another tweet added.

"Melania would be a far better president than spanky," a social media user wrote in reference to Donald Trump's alleged nickname given to his by adult film star Stormy Daniels. "You probably wouldn't understand but maybe he actually wants to go be with his wife," a follow-up tweet read.
