Donald Trump is on his way to Davos, Switzerland to participate in the World Economic Forum. After gloating about his trip on Twitter, those who oppose the president quickly gave him a reminder about how he is perceived in the United States and around the world.
Trump's trip
While Donald Trump is not viewed in a positive light in the United States, with an approval rating less than 40 percent, his foreign appeal is just as poor. In the year since his inauguration, Trump's controversial policy proposals and reckless rhetoric in interviews, speeches, and on social media have caused massive backlash against him.
After it was announced that Trump would be headed to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum, thousands took part in multiple protests in the country in opposition to Trump's arrival. The Hill reported on Wednesday that an estimated 2,000 demonstrators pushed back against Trump just in Zurich alone. In another blow to the president, First Lady Melania Trump decided against accompanying him on the trip, with many believing the recent reports of his extramarital affairs having played a part in the decision. As seen on his Twitter feed on January 24, Trump is doing his best to deflect.
Will soon be heading to Davos, Switzerland, to tell the world how great America is and is doing. Our economy is now booming and with all I am doing, will only get better...Our country is finally WINNING again!

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday night, Donald Trump attempted to paint a more positive picture of his trip abroad.
"Will soon be heading to Davos, Switzerland, to tell the world how great America is and is doing," Trump tweeted out. "Our economy is now booming and with all I am doing, will only get better," he added before noting ,"Our country is finally WINNING again!

Quick opposition
Not long after Donald Trump posted his tweet, critics wasted no time firing back.
"Are you going to recruit them to immigrate to America? They’re certainly white enough for you!" Bishop Talbert Swan tweeted out.
Our country is losing the battle for sanity with the asylum formerly known as the White House!

"The winning will be complete when Democrats win Congress later this year, when America wins your impeachment and conviction, and when Mueller wins your criminal conviction.
So much winning!" one Twitter user wrote. "Please go and don't come back. I think I speak for at least 65 million Americans," another tweet added. "MELANIA will stay behind and getting a LAWYER ,also she will be taken care of by the SECRET SERVICE , They do a service that’s why its a secret," a tweet noted.

Too bad you weren’t in Davos today to hear Chancellor Merkel eloquently explain the 'Poison' Of Right-Wing Populism.

"They are laughing at you.
Stop taking credit for the work of others," a social media user stated. "Please check yourself into a sanatorium when you are there," yet another post noted. The negative reaction continued to pour in as the opposition against Donald Trump moved forward.
