Sarah Sanders ripped on Twitter for blaming Obama for Trump nuclear button tweet

On Tuesday night, Donald Trump returned to Twitter to mock Kim Jong-un over the North Korean leader's recent remarks about having a nuclear button on his desk. As expected, the president was criticized for his remarks, while the White House did their best to defend him.

Nuke trouble

In recent months, the war of words between the United States and North Korea has heated up. With Kim Jong-un long being considered unstable and a dangerous dictator, American leaders have traditionally proceeded with caution.

Despite this, Donald Trump has taken a different approach, as he's taken to Twitter to insult the leader on a routine basis, giving him the nickname of "Rocket Man" and "Little Rocket Man," which he used in his speech at the United Nations earlier this year. The latest rift between both sides involves North Korea claiming to have access to nuclear weapons that can reach the United States, with Kim saying in a recent statement that the nuclear button was on his desk. Trump replied with a tweet of his own on Tuesday night, which Sarah Huckabee Sanders was forced to clarify during a press briefing on January 3.

In a tweet on Tuesday night, Donald Trump mocked Kim Jong-un for having a "depleted and food starved regime," before telling him that his nuclear button was "much bigger & more powerful." As expected, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was pressed on the issue by reporters on Wednesday.

Sanders blames Obama

"I don’t think it’s taunting for the people to stand up for this country," Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in response to whether or not it was smart that Donald Trump continues to taunt Kim Jong-un. "I think what’s dangerous is to ignore the continued threats," she said. Not stopping there, Sanders then went on to claim that if the Obama administration "had done anything and dealt with North Korea and dealt with Iran,' Trump "wouldn’t have to clean up their mess now," including his tweets and insults.

Instant backlash

After Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended Donald Trump's tweet regarding North Korea and nuclear war, social media users refused to keep quiet. "How does #SarahHuckabeeSanders sleep at night spewing this mindless dribble about trump establishing relationships on the golf course? I simply do not understand," one tweet read.

"If anyone is an expert on trashy tabloid fiction, it's (SHS) . She spouts it non-stop," another tweet added. "When life gives you the most rotten lemons OAT, bring in Sister Sanders, the most creative genius OAT, whipping up some real good juice," one Twitter user wrote.

"You're a bit fat lump Sarah Huckabee Sanders and you don't have much of a brain, but why are you so loyal to that deluded madman, Trumparse???" an additional tweet stated. "I can't stop wondering which one would win if (SHS) eyebrows fought," a follow-up tweet read.
