As he has on other mornings, Donald Trump started his day with a pair of angry posts on social media. Following the shocking defeat of Roy Moore in Alabama, it was only a matter of time before the president decided to elaborate further on his thoughts, but did so before proofreading.

Trump's tweet

Heading into Tuesday night's special Senate election in Alabama, the consensus was that Republican Roy Moore was going to slip by his Democratic opponent in Doug Jones despite the controversy surrounding him.

Donald Trump had originally supported Luther Strange in the Republican primary, but Moore, backed by Breitbart's Steve Bannon, was the one who pulled out the victory. In the weeks leading up the election, the Washington Post ran a bombshell story accusing Moore of sexual harassment and assault with underage girls dating back over 40 years. Moore denied the allegations, causing a dilemma for many Republicans. While the GOP seemed split on how to handle the situation, Trump decided to go in all, going as far as holding a rally in Pensacola, Florida earlier this week, which was just miles from Alabama.

The president even recorded robocalls in the state in an attempt to get Moore to Washington. In the aftermath of the defeat, Trump posted a surprisingly civil message to social media on Tuesday night, but changed course with an additional tweet on December 13.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday morning, Donald Trump elaborated on his thoughts on the results of the Alabama special election. "The reason I originally endorsed Luther Strange (and his numbers went up mightily), is that I said Roy Moore will not be able to win the General Election," Trump tweeted out, before adding, "I was right!" In conclusion, Trump wrote, "Roy worked hard but the deck was stacked against him!"

Trump on media error

In a follow-up tweet, Donald Trump continued his war of words with the mainstream media and explained why he was so active on Twitter.

"Wow, more than 90% of Fake News Media coverage of me is negative, with numerous forced retractions of untrue stories," Trump posted. "Hence my use of Social Media, the only way to get the truth out," he explained, before concluding "Much of Mainstream Meadia has become a joke!" While spelling "media" wrong to end his tweet, the president tagged his favorite morning show "Fox & Friends" on Fox News.

Moving forward

With the Alabama election in the rear-view mirror and his feud with the media continuing, only time will tell what the next step is in the presidency of Donald Trump. Despite Trump claiming to have the support of the majority of the American people, the most recent Pew Research Poll show an approval rating of just 32 percent.
