On Thursday, a bombshell story was released when former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile accused Hillary Clinton of rigging the Democratic primary against Bernie Sanders. Once the news was made public, it didn't take Donald Trump long to offer his remarks.

DNC trouble

Heading into the 2016 presidential election, the consensus was that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had the Democratic nomination on lockdown. However, those plans appeared to be pushed to the side when independent Sen. Bernie Sanders decided to register as a Democrat and challenge Clinton in the primary.

With him, Sanders brought with him a new wave of support among young Americans who didn't have allegiance to the Democratic Party, but agreed with Sanders' progressive ideas, including a single-payer health care system and free college tuition. Sanders was able to draw huge crowds in various parts of the country, and performed well during nationally televised debates. Despite this, Clinton was able to hold on to her lead in the polls and was nominated at the Democratic National Convention last summer. While Clinton appeared to have a clear path to the general election, questions were raised as to whether Sanders was given a fair chance in the primary, with former chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz taking the fall and stepping down as the backlash grew.

As reported by CNN on November 2, former chair Donna Brazile has accused Clinton of rigging the election against Sanders as part of the release of her new book.

In her new book "Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House," Donna Brazile claims that Hillary Clinton signed a "joint fundraising agreement" with the DNC which agreed to an exchange.

Clinton's campaign allegedly helped finance the DNC, and in return, the DNC would had oversight over her campaign. In addition to Brazile, popular Sen. Elizabeth Warren has come out to agree that the primary was rigged in favor of Clinton. The news has thrown another curve ball in the 2016 election, which Donald Trump made sure to respond to on his social media feed.

Trump on DNC

In response to the latest story accusing Hillary Clinton of rigging the primary, Donald Trump took to Twitter to give his thoughts. "Donna Brazile just stated the DNC RIGGED the system to illegally steal the Primary from Bernie Sanders. Bought and paid for by Crooked H....," Trump said.

Posting in a follow-up tweet, Donald Trump doubled down on his attack.

"This is real collusion and dishonesty," he tweeted, in yet another defense of the allegations that claim he has been in cahoots with Russia. "Major violation of Campaign Finance Laws and Money Laundering - where is our Justice Department?," Trump wondered. As of press time, neither the DNC nor Clinton have issued a comment.
