If there's one issue that most conservatives can rally behind, it's cutting taxes. After Republicans in the House of Representatives, and later the Senate, released their latest tax plan, First Daughter Ivanka Trump announced she will lend her support in helping turn it into law.
Ivanka on taxes
One of the biggest areas where Democrats and Republicans split is when it comes to the economy, most notably taxes.
For decades, liberals and conservatives have fought over how to run the county's tax system, with Republicans pushing for tax cuts, typically for higher earners, and cuts to many government programs, while Democrats advocate for tax hikes on wealthier Americans and a greater investment in the government. Whether it was during the era of former President Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, two George Bushes, or Barack Obama, the issue has been battered back between both sides for years. With the election of Donald Trump, the topic has continued to remain one of the most important in American politics.
For the former host of "The Apprentice," he's vowed to bring forward the best tax plan that Americans have seen, with Republicans in Congress revealing their latest ideas last week. However, after analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the GOP plan would add $1.7 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. Despite this, Ivanka Trump announced on social media that she will do whatever she can to help make the bill into reality.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday afternoon, Ivanka Trump, who serves as a special assistant to her father, noted that she will be making various stops in the North East to push for Tax Reform based on the Republican plans that are sitting in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
"This coming week I will be in NY, NJ, and on the Hill in D.C. working with Members of Congress to make #TaxReform a reality!" Ivanka tweeted out. As expected, critics of the president wasted no time firing back.
Twitter reacts
Once Ivanka Trump sent out her tweet about promoting tax reform, those who oppose Donald Trump and the Republican Party decided to give their thoughts. "What do you do, exactly?" one tweet rhetorically asked while attatching a meme from the movie "Office Space."
"And after those places this one soon.....your family is corrupt, you colluded with Russia, and it will all come out," another tweet added. "Are you going to talk about how the #GOPTaxScam will save you and your family hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars?" one Twitter user asked, before wondering, "Or are you going to lie about its non-existent benefits for the middle class?"
"No thanks.
Stay home. We didn't vote for you, either," an additional tweet stated. "You mean laundering money and trying to stay out of jail along with your Russian spy husband, and your Russian spy brothers," yet another tweet read. The negative reaction continued as the opposition to Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump and the GOP moved forward.
