Over the last week, one of the biggest stories in Washington has been focused on Donald Trump and his plan to tear down the affordable care act (Obamacare). After bragging about doing so on social media, his critics wasted no time lashing out.

Trump on Obamacare

For the better part of the last decade, Republicans have made repealing the Affordable Care Act their number one legislative goal.

During Barack Obama's time in office, it was impossible to achieve due to the threat of the certain veto that would come their way if legislation even made it to the president's desk. Fast forward to present day and Donald Trump is in the White House with Republicans having majority control in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Despite the GOP holding power, Trump has been unable to get enough Republicans on board to approve his plan, so offical action through Congress to remove Obamacare from law has been difficult. Knowing this is the current state of the game, Trump has announced several executive orders that will roll-back parts of the law, which include limiting the subsidies to low-income Americans, and giving employers the right not to cover birth control access to women as part of their health insurance plans.

As seen on his Twitter account on October 13, Trump decided to gloat about what has been going on.

Taking to his Twitter feed on Friday night, Donald Trump sent out several tweets about Obamacare and what his current thoughts were on the matter at hand. "Money pouring into Insurance Companies profits, under the guise of ObamaCare, is over. They have made a fortune," Trump tweeted, before adding, "Dems must get smart & deal!"

"ObamaCare is causing such grief and tragedy for so many. It is being dismantled but in the meantime, premiums & deductibles are way up!" Donald Trump added in his final tweet on the matter. As expected, those who oppose the current administration weren't pleased with the president's remarks.

Twitter reacts

Within minutes of Donald Trump's social media ranting, he quickly received backlash. "Seriously, are you on drugs?" one tweet wondered.

"Trumpcare is Deathcare. This is an assault on the American people," Eugene Gu, MD tweeted. "You couldn't kill enough people in Puerto Rico so now you're turn your attention to mainland US?" another tweet asked.

"Your presidency is causing much grief and tragedy across the WORLD!" Bishop Talbert Swan posted. "You are intentionally failing to execute the authority of your office. You should resign!" Howard Forman wrote. The negative reaction continued as it was made clear that many Americans weren't going to let Donald Trump off the hook for his actions on health care reform.
