We shouldn’t be surprised that former Vice President Al Gore also watches “Game of Thrones.” However, the surprising thing is the fact that the Donald Trump presidency is being compared to an episode of the show, particularly the “Red Wedding” episode.
That's what Gore said when he was asked about the current administration on Wednesday. The “Red Wedding” is the infamous episode from the third season of “Game of Thrones,” where it started out as a cheerful evening but ended in a massacre.
Controversies at the White House
The Trump administration has faced a lot of controversies recently, leading to people quitting or getting fired, which is why Gore likely made those comments in the first place.
Since the start of the year, people that have left the White House include Michael Flynn, James Comey, Sally Yates, Michael Dubke and Preet Bharara, just to name a few. Communications director Anthony Scaramucci resigned his post after just 10 days in the administration, and Press Secretary Sean Spicer also quit - followed by Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
This is very reminiscent of the “Red Wedding” episode where a lot of characters were killed off and those controversial staffing changes have caused division within the House and the Senate, according to Gore. In an interview with MSNBC host Chris Hayes, Gore stated, “It’s deeply troubling. And for me, the most troubling part of it is that it serves as a set of constant distractions from the problems we should be addressing and nothing is getting done,” as cited in a report from International Business Times.
The former vice president also said that Trump is isolating himself from the rest of the country after Hayes asked him about the current situation of the White House under the Trump administration.

Al Gore and the climate change
Gore is an environmentalist, which is why he has criticized the White House for pulling out of the Paris climate agreement in June.
He claims that he talked about the agreement with Trump several times before making the decision but to no avail.
He has always been concerned about the environment and claims that climate change is a problem that would impact both the present and future if not resolved. Al Gore wanted everyone to know that there are solutions available to this problem by releasing documentaries such as “An Inconvenient Truth” and “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” this year.
