Since Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration early this year in January, Melania Trump’s decision to remain in Trump Tower was the point of contention for several months. The first lady of the United States was scrutinized for not joining President Trump with over half a million people signing a petition calling for Melania to move to the White House.

Why didn't Melania move to the White House after the inauguration?

According to an NYPD letter sent to congressional members, it cost between $127,000 and $146,000 a day of taxpayers’ money to protect the First Lady and her son while they reside in Trump Tower.

The petition also stated that “The US taxpayer is paying an exorbitant amount of money to protect the First Lady in Trump Tower, located in New York City. As to help relieve the national debt, this expense yields no positive results for the nation and should be cut from being funded.”

The reason stated by Melania for not moving to the White House was so that her son Barron could finish his school year uninterrupted. On Sunday evening, true to her words, FLOTUS moved to the presidential mansion as she tweeted about her arrival with a photo of the Washington Monument as seen from the White House Red Room.

President Trump, as well as the first lady Melania, have been under scrutiny since campaign trail as the speculations regarding the state of their marriage made several tabloid’s frontlines.

From Melania’s body language with President Trump to her photographs posted on her Twitter account, their relationship continues to be compared with former President Barack Obama and ex-FLOTUS Michelle Obama. Melania moving in with President Trump may provide a temporary pause to such speculations and add some confidence to MAGA supporters.

Melania has continued to support President Trump in spite of various controversies before and after his election. During the infamous “Grab Them By The Pu**y” controversy, the first lady stood by him. at the time, Melania made a statement on “Fox and Friends” showing her faith in her relationship and to the man she married.

“My husband is kind. He’s a gentleman. He cares about people. He cares about women. He’s not the man that we saw, that we heard on the tape,” Melania Trump said during the interview.
