With the Microsoft Shanghai event fast approaching, speculations about the next generation Surface Pro 4 have been rife on the Internet. Aside from the building anticipation that the device will be unveiled at the upcoming event, a new leak surfaced on Friday, flaunting the hybrid device in all its glory.

Latest leaks

Serial leaker Evan Blass revealed another leak referring to the next iteration of the Surface Pro 4 that was launched in 2015. According to him, the device, which tech sites previously reported as the Pro 5, will be officially named Surface Pro, as the company drops the number.

Blass also revealed that the device will be a refresh of the previous model, powered by Windows 10.

In his article published on another tech site, Blass detailed that the device, instead of receiving massive aesthetic changes, opted to improve what's under the device's hood. The leaked images actually look like its predecessor. Several speculations previously claimed that the device will run on the latest Intel seventh-generation Kaby Lake processor.

Accessories and color variants

Aside from the pictures, Blass also shares that the Surface Pro will offer optional accessories like the Surface Pen and the keyboard.

He also revealed that the upcoming device will be available in four colors that resemble that of the Surface Laptop.

Shanghai event

On May 23, Microsoft will hold an event in Shanghai, China. The event will focus on the company's hardware products after it has launched earlier this month its education-focused event. Panos Panay, Microsoft Vice President of Devices, earlier said another product launch will happen during the Shanghai event.

In his tweet, the executive hinted that there is something that will be unveiled from the company's Surface line in the upcoming event. Based on these, many believed that the Surface Pro will be unveiled during the company's hardware event.

Expected price

From previous reports, there were speculations that the upcoming refresh of the 2015 hybrid laptop will be released in three variants with distinct specifications.

One variant dubbed by several sites as the base level of the device will have an Intel Core i5 processor and will be sold for $899. The next variant will have a higher configuration including utilizing the Intel Core i7 processor, higher RAM, and bigger internal storage. Reportedly, this device will be available for $999. The third variant will also have the Intel Core i7 processor but with a much higher RAM and much bigger internal storage and it will be sold at $1,599.
